Pamela Shad is an End-of-Life Doula living in southern Berkshire County. She earned her certification from the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and brings over 20 years of experience as a hospice social worker, supporting individuals and families in homes, nursing facilities, and hospitals.
Pamela’s deep commitment to compassionate care is enriched by her training as a non-denominational chaplain with the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care. She has served as a chaplain at Beth Israel Hospital in NYC, providing spiritual support in ICU, telemetry, and surgical units. Additionally, she is a certified teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), a practice developed at UMass Medical Center to help individuals navigate chronic illness and stress.
While Pamela has her own spiritual practice, she firmly believes that the most meaningful path is the one that resonates with each individual—whether rooted in a traditional faith, a personal philosophy, or no spiritual framework at all. She is honored to walk alongside those at the end of life, providing presence, support, and guidance in a way that aligns with their unique needs and beliefs.
